THE TITLE OF THE WORK: THE SCRIBES PRAYER.

By the might of our Lord Jesus Christ we begin to write the " Book of the Succession of the Generations," that is to say, ME'ÂRATH GAZZĘ, which was composed by SAINT MÂR APHREM (i.e. Ephraim, commonly known as "Ephraim Syrus," or "Ephraim the Syrian,'' who died A.D. 373). 0 our Lord, help Thou me in Thy Mercy. Amen.
